Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths and weaknesses based on community feedback
Strengths
The M3E1 has access to armour piercing ammo which applies fire satus which allows it to set enemies on fire without hitting fuel tanks, accelerated with fuel tank hits.
The damage per minute of this vehicle is one of the highest in the game with good overall damage before overheating.
Good acceleration and a great turning circle are this vehicle's greatest strengths. It also has decent top speed to traverse the map.
Quick changing ATGMs with 2 charges, great for dealing high burst damage, dealing with heavily armoured vehicles and dealing damage at long ranges.
This vehicle has access to smokes which can be used to effectively disengage from unfavourable combat scenarios.
Weaknesses
The M3E1 has ultra low penetration and has penetration falloff of just 50m making dealing with a lot of vehicles frontally almost impossible.
Due to the survivability of this vehicle being heavily dependent on shields, high explosives are an easy counter to it.
This vehicle has very low damage per shot making it bad at short trades.
This tank is very difficult to play and should be avoided at all costs by beginners. The lack of penetration and falloff makes flanking and the landing of critical shots crucial.
The ammo-rack of this vehicle can be hit from all sides and most of the time due to its high placement in almost every engagement.

Tips from Top Players
Strategic advice from players with high win rates in this vehicle:

IAmEdWards
M3E1 SupporterMy biggest tip is to run the small repair kit to allow you to recover shields more frequently, this lets you be more aggressive. Also prioritise fuel tank hits to high health targets and try to avoid vehicles such as the XM1-90.

_VEN0M
Fighting a T-90MYou have smoke and built-in thermals. Use these to your advantage to force fights to your advantage.

Tank Summary
The M3E1 is the perfect cavalry vehicle, with its great turning circle, damage per minute and specialised ammo it can make quick work of any enemy if given the opportunity to do so. Due to its ammo type it can quickly start fires with fuel tank hits then look for ammo crits when on the flank. This can quickly remove enemy vehicles from the fight. Best suited when played alongside another vehicle to allow for it to make the most of these features.
Lacking much survivability due to its ammorack placement, its important this vehicle stays on the move as this increases its chances of an enemy missing this vital module. This also allows for it to make the most of its weak yet important shield plates.
Overall the M3E1 is a versatile flanker with access to ATGMs it which provide long range firepower when flanking isn't an option, but flanking should be its focus. Its biggest weakness is enemy snipers or vehicles with access to high explosives with deplete its already low survivability.
