Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths and weaknesses based on community feedback

Strengths

Shields

The M60A3E2 is unique in that it has stronger shields than other vehicles which effectively have the health of 300hp. The shields (located on the front and sides of both the hull and turret) is useful against all ammunitions ,besides high explosives which have modifiers versus shields.

Damage Per Minute

Despite having one of the lowest base damages for its class, the M60A3 makes up for it by having an impressive rate of fire. Use this to your advantage as most do not expect it.

Titan Shell

Strengthens your shields, blocking all damage to them for the duration of the ability at the cost of mobility. (Shields are require for it to work!)

Spike

Thanks to the M60A3E2’s toolkit enemies who look to rush to the M60 are in for a nasty surprise. The M60A3 is capable of sacrificing shields to deliver a very heavy and quite often lethal blow to enemies within range that dazes and immobilises.

Hit-points

The M60A3E2 can be built to be an HP whale having around 6000 HP. This is more than the majority of other tanks in the game.

Weaknesses

Mobility

Compared to other defenders, the M60A3E2's mobility is slow and sluggish. You can be easily flanked and circled by most tanks (including other defenders). Keeping your head on a swivel is a must!

Base Damage

The M60A3E2's current base damage is the lowest for the defender class (excluding the BAT-4M). Sitting with 430 damage, to maximize DPM you should be aiming for modules and critical hits.

Range

Even with the M60A3E2's good gun ballistics, it is recommended to avoid long range combat as beyond 50m damage falloff starts and past 100m the damage is minimal.

Critical Hit boxes

The modules of this vehicle are large and easy to hit, especially the engine module hitbox. It also has a centrally places ammorack, so good marksman can easily hit this and do massive damage after getting past the shields.

High Explosives

Due to the nature of how HE/HESH currently work (modifiers versus shields), they are able to easily destroy shields and add-on armor. Keep this in mind when playing the M60A3E2.

Especially in Plant & Defuse tournaments, Ember's APS Bubble can be used to effortlessly plant and defend the bomb without disruption, ending battles quickly.

Reeeeeeee

Take advantage of its strong frontal armor and durability in a hull down situation by using your gun depression or hiding your hull behind a ridge. But try and avoid peeking with the right side of your tank to avoid getting cupola sniped at longer ranges.

Battleship Enjoyer

Run small repair kit and play around your shields. Note that tanks with high explosives will be your biggest enemy and stick to close range fights. Use spike sparingly.

Tank Summary

The M60A3E2 in Project CW is a powerful defender that excels as a defensive anchor. Unlike the M1E1 and XM1V, the M60A3E2 excels at capturing and holding strategic points. Using your defensive abilities, you are able to force enemies to come to you while protecting your teammates. The combat style of the M60A3E2 is best defined as a gladiator. Use your protection dome to create a dueling area and use your titan shell ability to win the duel.

The M60A3E2 is not as favorable and forgiving to new players like the M1E1, but can excel in the hands of more advanced players. The characteristics and toolkit require thoughtful planning and skill to use effectively. It is not newcomer friendly but does not require a lot of skill.

Overall the M60A3E2 is a stalwart that excels in being a "tough nut to crack". While not having the best frontal armor the layout is good with the best side armour in the game. It has abilities that massively enhance your survival. It is not uncommon for the M60A3E2 to be the center of attention.
