Meet the Team - Shockwave

Introduction

The name is Shrayes. Yeah, I know it's a weird name, but it’s the one I have, so I just roll with it.

Most folks on the internet just know me as Shockwave. I adopted the name from the Decepticon from the Transformers series. Something just struck out to me as him being such a unique character, the mystique, the cold and cunning logic.

I got my introduction to Project Cold Wars through my background from World of Warships, being a long-standing and jaded veteran of that game. I plunged headfirst into the OAT1 and haven’t looked back since.

What I Do

I am a writer for the PCWStats Team, working on tank and map guides as well as general advice guides. Most of the time I’m usually just lurking around listening in to feedback from other players while also test evaluating almost every tank that I get my hands on and writing guides for them. I also provide occasional suggestions to people that are struggling with the game. My vision with helping people out is to try and foster a community within the game that in turn helps everyone that wants to play the game be better at it, with the mindset that it isn’t fun to keep getting blown out every game and not improve because you don’t really know why you keep getting blown out repeatedly, nor are constant steamroll games fun for good players either.

My Background

My background is interesting, as I never really cared much for picking apart and putting together technology. Although I have a fascination with the field of STEM, my primary focus has always been on the Arts, through the fields of Social Sciences and Politics. However, as I said, I have a fascination with the sciences, and I’ll often peruse through scientific articles, lectures, and other pieces of material that catch my interest, and I’ll keep that knowledge to dwell on later and add it to my collection.

Besides my interest in collecting a large amount of knowledge about everything that I can, I also love politics and discussing it with my colleagues. I got my start in politics in college as part of the Student government body and transitioned it back into my home city, where I work with the city council on helping to run a summer class for Government 101.

My personal tastes lean in all sorts of directions. I have a fascination with both hand to hand vehicular, and tower defense combat in video games. To wit, I have played way too much of the Bloons Tower Defense Franchise, as well as a good bit of Doom 2016 and Eternal, on top of Project CW, World of Warships and World of Tanks. This also feeds into my music tastes, as I do listen to a ton of Heavy Metal such as Guns n’ Roses, AC/DC, and A7X. As for everything else, as Loki says, it varies from moment to moment.

From a personal standpoint, I’m shy and anxious; on the internet I will yap for days but in real life I don’t really say all too much outside of the classroom or a meeting, and I prefer to let whatever work I do speak for itself.

Favorite Thing About Project CW

My favorite thing about Project CW is really just the fact that I’ve found a wonderful community with which I can share my ideas and collaborate, and of course really have fun when playing a Wargaming Title without having to deal with a group of people that can really grate your nerves.

Fun Facts

I obsess over details and I like to sketch out my crazy ideas and talk about them to anyone who is willing to listen to them.

I’m a massive sucker for Mint Chip Ice Cream.

I used to be a good athlete, but I walk around with a limp due to a strained knee and achilles tendon. It doesn’t bother me, but it certainly is rather annoying.

My favorite soundtrack is BFG Division from Doom 2016.
