SINEWAVE

Founder & Lead Developer

Introduction

Hello, I’m David, most people just know me as SINEWAVE. I’m 30 (yeah, I know, kinda old) and I’ve been a business owner at heart for the past 9 years, running all kinds of ventures. Gaming has always been one of my biggest hobbies ever since I got my first PC as a gift from my parents, I can’t even remember the specs of it to be honest, but I do remember it running Red Orchestra: Combined Arms, and that was everything I cared about, hooking me for a few years. Eventually, I stumbled onto World of Tanks in its beta stages, and that was the start of a long ride.

On the personal side, I’m old (I mentioned that earlier, didn’t I?), I’ve got a wife and two kids, and I steer clear of all that social media stuff. Not that I don’t have time for it (I absolutely don’t), but I just don’t see any benefit in it. Zero. Nada. So yeah, no socials, just real life so don't ask for my Instagram because I might link you some company-ran account.

In this post, I aim to share a bit about myself, explain how I roll and operate. Hopefully, I don’t bore you too much, but it’s a nice thing to do once every few years: take some time, look in a mirror or even from an outside perspective, and talk about yourself. Explain how and why you did things and how you flow in your life. It can really help with mental clarity and help you figure out where you are, what you can improve, and where you can go next to be a better version of yourself.

What I Do

Besides juggling businesses, I’m the Founder & Lead Developer behind PCWStats (the site you’re reading this on right now, like, RIGHT now). I kicked off this project about a month after discovering Project CW during its Open Alpha in January 2024 and getting to know the game and its community.

The first version of PCWStats was really rough, imagine a car with no engine, no doors, not even wheels. It was just a crazy coffee-fueled sprint, a test to see how fast I could come up with an idea, build it, and throw it out to some Project CW players for feedback. The whole site was basically a giant [PLACEHOLDER] sign with how many of those I had splattered across it. Hell, sometimes I joked that the "P" in PCWStats stands for Placeholder. I cleared my whole schedule, stayed up all night coding, and got it done in less than two days.

After the game’s first open alpha ended, I kinda dropped the project for almost a year. Then the second open alpha came around, and it reignited my passion for both the game and the site. This time, I ditched the old version completely and started fresh with a fully modular setup, nothing in the codebase hooked tightly to anything else, everything has its own format, naming structure and simple integrations. That way I can roll with whatever changes the game throws at me without breaking everything.

Now, with PCWStats V2 in full swing, I decided to bring in some help. I gathered a team of six passionate Project CW players from the community who help with development, content, design, and whatever else pops up. Honestly, I think this team will keep growing, there’s no downside to having more brains tossing ideas around, fixing bugs, and making the site better.

People often ask me about my process, how I code, run business stuff, or tackle daily life. Truth is, I don’t have a strict formula. I just put on some music, see what feels right to work on that day, and dive in. We keep track of what’s done, what’s broken, and what’s cooking on a simple status page, and that’s about it. Same goes for my businesses, anyone in my firms can work on whatever they want. No rules, no targets, just pure passion and creativity pushing things forward.

My Background

I’m self-taught through and through. No fancy courses or scholarships for me, when I started my first online store that's still running to this day, I was basically broke and hustling whatever jobs I could get to fuel that small store while also working a full-time job. But I had a computer, so I dove into personal projects nobody would ever see just to teach myself how to make money, how programming works, video editing to create content, you name it. Fast-forward, and now I run 7 companies and a handful of open-source projects.

I’m into sim games, doesn’t matter if it’s shooter sims, racing sims, or flying sims. If it’s complex and deep, you’ll probably find me in there. At the same time, I’m a sucker for lore-driven games with solid storylines.

In many games I play, I look for bugs, glitches, even exploits, it’s just that cybersecurity part of me driving me to figure out how everything works and where the flaws lie. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not doing it to gain unfair advantages or “cheat” my way to the top. I just love discovering these things, from out-of-bounds exploits that let me explore hidden parts of maps to simple bugs that break the game’s logic in weird ways. Most of the time, when I find one of those, I keep it to myself and my friends, having fun while it lasts, then I report it to the developers to help improve the game for everyone, especially if the bug can be abused to ruin the fun.

Music taste? That’s complicated. I’m like a salad with the most random ingredients. One minute I’m blasting brutal dubstep and riddim, then some EDM, trap, house, classic rock, old school hip-hop and rap, and the next I’m chillin’ with the kind of Lo-Fi beats that’d probably put most people into a week-long depression. So yeah, I basically listen to almost everything.

I’m also on the moderation team for the official Project CW Discord and run our Discord server for this project, so if you want to find me, that’s where I hang out when I’m not busy with life and work.

Favorite Thing About Project CW

The gameplay and mechanics, no doubt. The hero-shooter vibe mashed with tank battles puts a fresh twist on tank gameplay I’ve loved for over 10 years playing World of Tanks. Plus, Project CW’s graphics and overall design pull me in way more than World of Tanks ever did. Honestly, after so many years, I kinda stopped noticing the graphics in World of Tanks, everything just becomes "tank here, tank there, building, base, shoot," and nothing more after all this time, and Project CW made me feel something again.

Favorite Agent and Tank

Hands down, no questions asked, Chopper and the M1E1 tank, or just "Chopper" if you’re OG from the first Open Alpha when agents and tanks were basically the same thing. I love the fear factor it throws at anyone I run into, even after all the nerfs.

And c’mon, it’s an Abrams, how could I not love that?

Fun Facts

If you can call it that, I’m insanely calm and stoic. Like, people actually question my sanity and mental health sometimes. But I see it as a superpower. It keeps me steady and focused in situations where most people would be losing it, angry, or stuck in sadness and grief.

Also, I’m basically a coffee addict, sometimes I joke that coffee flows through my veins. I drink so much that if you see me on the street, you’ll probably spot a big coffee thermos strapped to my backpack, ready to pour a hot cup wherever I settle or if im not, im probably on my way to buy a coffee from the nearest coffee shop. Oh, and I really like cats, alot.

Quote & Personal Motto

I don’t really roll with mottos or idols, but if you want some advice from me: don’t let fear of judgment or that "what if I fail?" thought stop you. Worst case? You start over. That’s the best part, starting over means you know where you messed up, how you failed, and what you can do better next time.

Now, this may not be the best advice for everyone, but in my honest opinion, it’s something most people can apply in their day-to-day lives to reach higher and higher goals. Plenty of people are happy sticking with a stable job for life and calling it a day, and that’s totally fine. But for those who aren’t, this is my advice: don’t be afraid to take risks and embrace failure as part of the journey.

I learned this early on, especially since I was never the "normal" kind of guy. While others were grinding through years of school just to get a mediocre but stable job or flexing on social media, I was quietly teaching myself the skills that got me here, running multiple businesses, leading open-source projects, having a wife and two kids, all by not caring what others think and not fearing failure.

Final Thoughts

That’s me in a nutshell. If you want to hear more or just hang out, hit up our Discord or the Project CW server where I’m usually around. Thanks for stopping by. Now go crush whatever you’re working on, and don’t sweat the small stuff.

Also, check out what some of the other PCWStats crew have to say about themselves while you're here.

Peace.
